Living in Color!

I'm a recent transplant to the Pacific Northwest.  I love it!  Spring in Oregon is beautiful!  The rhododendrons are spectacular!  I have never seen one flower that comes in so many varieties.  We have a shade of pink in front of our house and a lavender one that fades to almost white.  The neighbors have a brilliant red bush and a different hue of pink than we have.  They also have one of my favorite ones.  It is a lilac color with a very dark purple on the inside.  I actually thought that the dark centers were part of the bud not the flower.  In the back of their house they have a bush that has a flaming orange shade of flower.  I have seen yellow rhododendrons as well.  I understand that they also come in shades of blue.  What a versatile and beautiful flower!

Outside of Portland there is a garden called Crystal Springs Garden that has many rhododendrons check out the  Beautiful Rhododendron varieties they are so fun!

I went on a walk today and took pictures of a wide variety of flowers in all the colors of the rainbow.

Now I get to paint and draw and color all the beautiful things I've seen.  YES!

It has been a long time since I enjoyed my art.  I am an artist inside of my soul.  A paintbrush feels as natural in my hand as a pencil does.

I believe that art is subjective.  What speaks to one person might not seem like much to another.  So I think that the goal of art is to let the inner artist sing.  Who cares if everyone enjoys the song!  It's like singing in the shower.  We do it for the joy of it.

Yesterday I went to the local craft store.  I bought acrylic paints, oil pastels, and an all graphite pencil (there's no wood so it all writes!)  I am so excited to use them!

How many years have you thought about doing something you'd really love, but put it off?
